Deck Check & Rule 0
This event uses Commander Bracket 2 expectations to ensure a balanced and enjoyable experience for everyone at the table.
- Deck checks may occur at the organizer’s discretion to confirm bracket alignment
- Players should be prepared to briefly explain their deck’s game plan, win conditions, and notable interactions during Rule 0
- Decks that are deemed too fast, oppressive, or misaligned with Bracket 2 may be asked to swap decks or sit out without refund
- Intentional misrepresentation of deck power or strategy is grounds for removal from the event
Rule 0 conversations are expected to be quick, honest, and respectful. The goal is clean games, meaningful interaction, and competitive balance — not surprise turn-three wins or hard locks that shut the table out.
By registering, you agree to play in good faith and respect organizer rulings.

Bracket 2 Examples (What’s OK / What Isn’t)
Generally OK in Bracket 2
- Well-tuned decks with a clear game plan
- Synergy-driven strategies (tribal, aristocrats, spellslinger, tokens, enchantments, artifacts, etc.)
- Infinite or deterministic combos that require setup, multiple pieces, and are interactable
- Efficient interaction (counterspells, removal, board wipes)
- Mana acceleration through normal ramp (signets, talismans, land ramp)
- Winning between turns 7–10 in an uncontested game
Generally Not OK in Bracket 2
- cEDH-level fast mana (e.g. Mana Crypt, Jeweled Lotus, Mana Vault)
- Consistent early wins (turn 3–4) or explosive openings that decide the game immediately
- Hard stax or prison strategies that lock the table out of play
- Tutors used exclusively to assemble fast, deterministic wins every game
- Commanders or builds whose primary goal is speed over interaction
Gray Area / Talk It Out During Rule 0
- Combos that can win early but usually don’t
- Heavy tutor packages without fast mana
- High-powered commanders built intentionally slower than their reputation
- Soft stax or taxation effects that still allow meaningful play
When in doubt, disclose. A quick, honest Rule 0 conversation prevents bad games and keeps the event competitive in the right way.
Final bracket alignment decisions rest with the organizer.
